Police Blotter: Lock Your Garage and Hide Your GPS
This blotter covers only a fraction of police reports filed in Southwest Minneapolis from April 12-19. All details come from Minneapolis Police Department reports.

April 13: Officers were dispatched to the 4600 block of Pleasant Avenue South to recover a car owned by a nearby Southwest Minneapolis resident that was listed as stolen. There was no key in the car, and the steering column was intact.
April 13: The front passenger side window of a car parked on the 4000 block of Pleasant Avenue South was broken sometime the night before. A GPS and iPod charger were stolen.
April 14: A suspected drunk driver ran into the divider at 36th Street and Nicollet Avenue South. The 29-year-old man tried to drive off but ran into a parked car. He was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center by police where a blood sample was collected. He'll likely be charged with DWI and hit and run property damage, according to the incident report.

April 14: A 44-year-old man returned to his home on the 4600 block of Lake Harriet Parkway West to find the door broken open and items missing.
April 14: An off-duty police officer at Cub Foods on Nicollet Avenue saw a car pull into a handicapped space. The driver hung a handicapped permit on the rearview mirror then walked briskly into the store. The 57-year-old man told the officer the permit belonged to his mother-in-law, who was at home. He was arrested.

April 14: A car on the 3400 block of Dupont Avenue South was broken into and a cellphone was taken.
April 16: The passenger window of a car in the parking lot of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was shattered during services. A GPS was taken.
April 17: A thief broke into a garage on the 5100 block of Harriet Avenue South and took three bicycles sometimes in the early morning.
April 17: Sometime during the night, a car on the 5000 block of Beard Avenue South was vandalized. There were eggs smashed on the car, the word "bitch" was written in red and it appears that the vandal put sugar in the gas tank. It's believed that the vandalism stemmed from disagreements over a boy.
April 19: The passenger window of of a car on the 5900 block of Pillsbury Avenue South was broken overnight. A GPS was stolen.
