A Hennepin County jury has begun deliberating a verdict in the murder trial against former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin.

MINNEAPOLIS — The murder case against former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chavuin is now in the hands of a 12-member Hennepin County jury. Deliberations began Monday after state prosecutors and the defense made their closing arguments.

The jury has been given specific instructions on how to decide whether Chauvin is guilty or innocent of the three charges brought against him.

Chauvin faces third-degree murder, second-degree manslaughter, and second-degree unintentional murder charges in George Floyd's Memorial Day 2020 death.
