Rep. Omar Draws Up Articles of Impeachment Against Trump

"It's a matter of preserving our Republic and we need to fulfill our oath," Rep. Ilhan Omar wrote Wednesday.

As chaos continued to unfold in Washington D.C., Rep. Ilhan Omar announced that she is moving to impeach President Donald Trump Wednesday.

"I am drawing up Articles of Impeachment," Omar wrote on Twitter.

"Donald J. Trump should be impeached by the House of Representatives & removed from office by the United States Senate. We can’t allow him to remain in office, it’s a matter of preserving our Republic and we need to fulfill our oath."

In August, Trump became the third president to be impeached by the U.S. House. However, he was acquitted by the Senate.

As Congress began the process to count the votes of the Electoral College, Trump supporters breached the U.S. Capitol and forced their way into both chambers of Congress Wednesday.

U.S. Capitol Police evacuated both the Library of Congress and the Cannon House Office Building as a result.

One person was shot and killed.
