Retired Twin Cities Archbishop Harry Flynn Dies At 86

Harry Flynn was appointed archbishop of the diocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis in 1994.

TWIN CITIES, MN — Harry Joseph Flynn, the former archbishop of the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis, died Sunday. The archdiocese announced the news Monday morning.

Flynn was 86. Funeral details are being arranged.

"O God, who chose your servant, Archbishop Harry Flynn,
from among your Priests,
and endowed him with pontifical dignity
in the apostolic priesthood,
grant, we pray,
that he may also be admitted to their company for ever"

Flynn was appointed archbishop in 1994. He served until 2008, and was succeeded by John Nienstedt.
