Star Tribune Social Media Producer Dies At 27
Those who knew Rachel Chazin and her work remember her for the joy she brought to their lives.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Twin Cities journalists are mourning the sudden loss of a colleague. Rachel Chazin — who worked as a social media writer and digital content producer for the Star Tribune — died late last month at 27.
Chazin suffered from depression, the paper says, but friends, family and coworkers remember her for the joy she brought to their lives, both online and off.
Chazin graduated from the University of Minnesota with a journalism degree in 2013. Prior to the Star Tribune, the Plymouth native worked as an assignment and content editor for Fox 9.

Whip-smart. Wicked funny. Cool enough to school Prince on Spotify (look it up.) @RachelChazin was gift to the @StarTribune newsroom and to journalism ... gone far too soon. https://t.co/c1vGnfz9Kh

"Rachel Chazin had one of those laughs. Loud, open-mouthed and contagious, the kind that made people feel as if they were part of something special," writes the Star Tribune’s Jackie Crosby.

Chazin’s last tweet was a piece of advice she posted following the death of Anthony Bourdain.
I see everyone sharing the suicide hotline now. That's nice, but what works even better is reaching out to your friends and telling them you love and appreciate them.
