State Fair to Increase Security Measures for 2016

Enhancements to the fair's safety and security program will include bag checks at all event entrances.

Security at this year's Great Minnesota Get-Together will be a bit tighter compared to previous years.

The Minnesota State Fair’s security efforts will be expanded for 2016 to include bag checks at all entry gates.

Bags, purses, coolers and packages will be subject to search at each of the State Fair’s 11 entrances during the upcoming fair, according to a news release.

The State Fair has also adjusted safety procedures in several other areas including security staffing levels, vehicle access, traffic management and video.

The State Fair’s security plan is developed in conjunction with local, state and federal public safety agencies.
