Twins, Timberwolves, Wild Cancel Scheduled Games After Shooting

The teams made the decisions out of respect for Daunte Wright, the victim of the shooting.

SOUTHWEST MINNEAPOLIS, MN— The Minnesota Twins, the Wild and the Timberwolves won't be playing their scheduled games Monday night.

The Minnesota Twins announced that they would be postponing their series opener against the Red Sox.

The NBA also announced that the Minnesota Timberwolves would also be postponing their scheduled Monday night game against the Brooklyn Nets.

The Minnesota Wild announced that their Monday night game would be rescheduled for May 12.

These decisions were made after 20-year-old Daunte Wright was shot and killed by a police officer in Brooklyn Center, both teams said.

“Out of respect for the tragic events that occurred yesterday in Brooklyn Center, and following the additional details in this evolving situation, the Minnesota Twins have decided it is in the best interests of our fans, staff, players and community to not play today’s game," the Twins said. "The Minnesota Twins organization extends its sympathies to the family of Daunte Wright."

The NBA and the MN Wild also said the shooting in Brooklyn Center influenced their decisions.
