Annual Seedling Give Away Around the Corner
Conservation Commission will give away young plants on a first-come, first-served basis.

On Saturday, May 4, from 9-11 a.m. the Merrimack Conservation Commission will have its annual seedling giveaway. Seedlings are free to Merrimack residents. The giveaway will take place at Currier Orchards at 9 Peaslee Road in Merrimack.
This is a first-come first-served event. No reservations in advance will be taken. It is usually a popular event so please plan to come early. There is plenty of parking at the Orchard.
This year the Conservation Commission is giving away the following plants, with some varieties being more limited than others:
• 3-year old Balsam Fir
• 3-year old Fraser Fir
• Arrowwood
• Gray Dogwood
• American Hazelnut
• Beach Plum
• Fragrant Sumac
• Buttonbush
• Yellow-osier Dogwood
• European Highbush Cranberry
• Wetland Rose
• Winterberry Holly

The seedlings are bare root plants with few if any leaves or needles. They should be planted right away or “heel” in the plants. At the very least keep their roots moist and in a cool place until they can be planted. These seedlings come from the NH State Nursery; you can learn more about their seedling program here: .
