State says pain and addiction centers shut abruptly, patients denied access to medical records (concordmonitor.com) — Patients in Merrimack who relied on local pain and addiction clinics are caught up in abrupt closures that left many without care or access to their medical records. New Hampshire’s Attorney General has sued the operator, and a court-appointed receiver is now handling records requests so affected patients can reconnect with treatment safely.

2. DARPA Awards BAE Systems $16 Mln Phase 2 Contract For Oversight Program (nasdaq.com) — BAE Systems will carry out part of a new $16 million DARPA contract at its Merrimack facility, supporting development of advanced satellite-based surveillance software. The work, shared with a Burlington, MA site and a subcontractor, aims to improve real-time tracking and decision-making for U.S. military operations, tying high-tech research and defense jobs directly to Merrimack.

3. Frances 'Fran' L'Heureux (nashuatelegraph.com) — Merrimack is mourning Frances “Fran” L’Heureux, 79, a longtime resident and former Merrimack Police Department dispatcher who later served as a communications specialist with New Hampshire State Police. She died November 21 after a sudden illness, and her family plans a graveside ceremony in Nashua this May, with condolences invited through the funeral home’s website.

4. ‘Forever chemicals' could cause more infant deaths and preterm births (washingtonpost.com) — Merrimack residents concerned about PFAS contamination get new support from a major study linking “forever chemicals” in New Hampshire drinking water to higher infant death, preterm birth, and low birth weight rates. Local advocate Laurene Allen of Merrimack Citizens for Clean Water says the findings mirror health challenges her community associates with a nearby fabric coating facility, intensifying calls for stronger protections and standards.
