Four Arrested Over the Weekend For DUI in Merrimack

Four people were arrested recently on drunk driving charges in Merrimack.

MERRIMACK, N.H. - Four people were arrested recently on drunk driving charges in Merrimack.

Gregory James McNicholas, 44, of Laconia, NH was charged with Operating after Suspension 2nd offense, Conduct after an accident, Operating with suspended registrations, Reckless driving, and Operating without proof of financial responsibility.

McNicholas was picked up by Laconia Police on May 17 on a traffic warrant. The charges stem from an incident on June 5, 2017 in which Merrimack Police responded to a hit and run at New World Gas on DW Highway.

Upon arrival, the investigating officer noticed significant damage to an ice machine and store front window. The officer also found a NH license plate that matched the description of the vehicle involved. Video surveillance also showed the suspect's car hitting the ice machine and fleeing the scene.

Upon further investigation by the officer, the operator of the vehicle involved was identified as Gregory McNicholas, who was released on $1,000 personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to appear before the Merrimack 9th Circuit Court on May 24.

Thanya Chevez, 23, of Nashua, NH was arrested for driving while intoxicated on May 20 near the Everett Turnpike.

According to police, an officer patrolling the area spotted Chevez commit a motor vehicle infraction around 2 a.m. and pulled her over.

While speaking with the operator the officer observed signs of impairment and after further investigation Chevez was arrested and charged with DWI.

She was released on $1,000 personal recognizance bail and scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Court-Merrimack on May 24.

Benjamin English, 32, of Manchester, NH was arrested for OUIL after a traffic stop near the Daniel Webster Highway on May 20..

According to police, an patrolling officer in the area stopped English around 2:30 a.m. for a driving infraction and noticed signs of impairment when speaking to him.

After a brief investigation, English was arrested and charged with OUIL. He was transported to the Merrimack Police Department, processed and released on $1000 Personal Recognizance bail.

He is scheduled to appear on May 24, 2018 before the 9th Circuit Court – Merrimack.

Emmanuel Lopez Ortiz, 29, of Manchester, NH was arrested for DWI near the F.E. Turnpike on May 20.

According to police, Merrimack Police received a report of a motor vehicle driving at excessive speeds, weaving in and out of traffic and tailgating on the F.E. Everett Turnpike in Merrimack around 10 p.m. on May 20.

After a traffic stop and investigation, it was determined that Ortiz was driving while intoxicated and he was placed under arrest.

Ortiz was subsequently processed on the DWI charge and released on $1,000.00 personal recognizance bail. He is scheduled to appear before the 9th Circuit Merrimack on May 24.
