MERRIMACK, NH — Merrimack High School's Top 10: Amber Lyons
Hello! My name is Amber Lyons, and I am a graduating senior from Merrimack High School. I’d like to take a moment to thank my parents, my teachers, my family, my friends, and especially, my grandmother. They are always pushing me out of my comfort zone and supporting me no matter what. Thank you all for your words of wisdom, I will carry them with me through college and the rest of my life.
Throughout these past four years, I have been determined to contribute to various aspects of my school, such as: music, Environmental Club, Math Team, National Honors Society, Gymnastics, and much more. Music has been a major part of my life for over six years now. I’ve placed first piccoloist and second flutist in the Classical Allstate Band, and I have participated in several different ensembles since starting high school. Flute brings me a sense of peace after a long day of academics and extracurriculars. I also became the drum major of the marching band my senior year. Math has brought me excitement since I was a young girl, which is why I became the captain of Math Team and the president of Math National Honors Society. A few friends and I started the high school varsity gymnastics team our freshman year, and it grew to 13 people! I became the captain of the team my senior year, and I will miss my team when I am off in college. I also spent large portions of my summers volunteering at the United Nation of Greater Nashua, organizing events for the homeless and raising awareness of pressing issues around town.
