Merrimack School officials are looking to fill a school board vacancy left by the sudden departure of Micheal Thompson.

MERRIMACK, N.H. - Merrimack School officials are looking to fill a school board vacancy left by the sudden departure of Micheal Thompson. According to the Union Leader, Thompson resigned on May 10 citing an upcoming move.

“It is with great sadness that I’m informing you of my resignation from the school board effective immediately,” Thompson wrote in an email to school officials.

Thompson was initially elected to a three-year term in the spring of 2016.

“Our family is looking to move in the coming months,” he said in an online statement. “Even though it is not 100 percent certain that we will move and we have not sold our house, I felt it was best to step aside from the position to allow a member of the community to take over the job as soon as possible.”
