Merrimack Youth Association Competes in Elementary Wrestling Tournament
MYA Wrestlers bring home five champ titles, three runners-up at the 13th Annual NH State K-4 Elementary Wrestling Championship Tournament.
The Merrimack Youth Wrestling Program competed in the annual NH State K-4 Elementary Wrestling Championship Tournament held at Nashua South High School in Nashua, NH on February 26, 2017. Merrimack brought sixteen wrestlers to compete with individual results below:
Kindergartner Grayson Chestnut fought hard against opponents with a large weight advantage and grabbed third place medal with one win by pin.

Olivia Dine, grade K, breezed through her bracket pinning two of her opponents and winning one by technical fall to take first place on the podium and state champ title.
Ryan Marone, grade 1, wrestled up against two of his second grade teammates to bring home third place medal and his first career win.

Luke Emond, grade 2 wrestled hard in his bracket taking home fourth place on the podium.
Second grader, Aiden Kennedy captured his first career pin and then followed it up with pin number 2 to take second place.
Kael McAloon, grade 2, fought hard in a tough bracket to complete one win by pin on the day and grabbing third place on the podium.
Second grader Micah Dodds notched his first and second career wins bringing home silver medal.
Teammates Liam Bright and Rhys Dewar, grade 2 met each other in the championship match with Bright grabbing second place and his only loss being a 4 point defeat to state Champ Dewar. Dewar maintained his winning streak bringing home his third state champ title in three years.
Second grader Liam Newman once again breezed through his bracket pinning all of his opponents and taking first place crown.
Third graders Gryffen Gelinas, Christian Chestnut and John Regal all fought hard in their brackets each taking fourth place medal on the day.
Jackson Meehan, grade 3 maintained his state champ title for the second year in a row with two pins on the day.
Cayden Dine, grade 3 didn’t allow little sister Olivia to show him up and also grabbed first place on the podium for the second year in a row.
Fourth grader Ivey Johnson, wrestled her way to third place on the podium.
The Merrimack Youth Wrestling Program is part of the Merrimack Youth Association. It strives to provide a safe recreational activity for Merrimack children in grades K-8. The program promotes the sport of wrestling, the world’s oldest sport, by providing a safe practice environment, by delivering high quality instruction, and by facilitating tournament competition opportunities. The Program is in its 12th season and currently has 46 wrestlers on its roster.
