When is the Next Hazardous Waste Collection?

Nice weather = Spring cleaning.

As the weather gets warmer and you start cleaning out the cupboards, closets and garage, don't forget the importance of properly disposing of hazardous materials that should not be thrown into your everyday trash.

In this latest installment of , we've got the schedule for you of the 2013 Household Hazardous Waste Collections days in the region. The first one is just about a month away on April 20.

All of these regional collection days are held outside of Merrimack, so a little planning may be in order, especially if you want to save some money!

The user fee for HHW collection days is $10 for  up to $10 gallons or up to 20 pounds of waste. If you don't have even close to the limit, pair up with your neighbors and carpool to the collection site, the fee is on a per-car basis (plus you're helping save the environment. Bonus!) Cash and check only.

Items accepted on collection days include:

  • Adhesive
  • Drain Cleaner
  • Electronics
  • Herbicides & Pesticides
  • Fertilizer
  • Mercury Products
  • Lithium Batteries
  • Driveway Sealer
  • Mixed Gas
  • Ni-CAD Batteries
  • Antifreeze
  • Household Cleaners
  • Paint Thinner
  • Fluorescent Bulbs
  • Pool Chemicals
  • Lead & Oil based Paint

Please note, latex paint is not accepted. If you have electronics, they are also accepted on the same dates, however, there is a separate fee schedule. (See the flyer above for fee information.)

April 20 is the first collection date of this year. Not going to be around? No worries, there are several more collection dates to get to.

2013 Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Recycling Days:

  • April 20 in Nashua
  • May 4 in Milford
  • June 6 in Nashua (3-7 p.m.)
  • Aug 3 in Nashua
  • Oct 5 in Nashua
  • Nov 2 in Nashua

Collection days run from 8 a.m. to noon unless otherwise noted. Nashua collections are at the Nashua Public Works Garage, 9 Stadium Drive. Milford collection is at the Milford Public Works Garage, 289 South St.
