City Paddle Boarder Completes Isles of Shoals Trip

The weather and the tides were definitely with Chris Carragher when he began his 17-mile paddle board trip to the Isles of Shoals and back on Saturday morning.

In a little more than five hours, Carragher, 40, of Portsmouth completed his goal as part of a n effort to raise $10,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Seacoast.

His wife, Diane, accompanied him in a support boat as Carragher made his way to the Odiorne State Park in Rye.

On Friday, Carragher said he had raised $3,500 on his Standup4littles.com web site and he hoped that by completing his trip on Saturday more donations would follow.

The couple also serve as "bigs" for the non-profit group.

"Out was a breeze. We got out in two hours flat," Carragher said. He said the return trip was "definitely more difficult than going out."

Carragher said it took him about 5 hours and 32 minutes to complete the trip.
