Police Called for Couple 'Having Sex' on Peirce Island

The following information was provided by the Portsmouth Police log. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

The following is an excerpt from the Portsmouth Police log from Friday, Oct. 18 to Saturday, Oct. 20.

Friday:

  • At 2:46 p.m., police arrested a Portsmouth man on Lafayette Road who was wanted as a fugitive from justice. Nicholas Mecum, 35, of 600 Lafayette Road was wanted on a bench warrant.
  • At 4:29 p.m., police reported an unwanted male at the Goodwill Store on Lafayette Road after the caller said that a man who had previously taken photos of women under their skirts had returned to the store.
  • At 5:08 p.m., police reported fraud on Blue Heron Driver after the caller said a man who claimed to be an FBI agent tried to get her to pay him $300 for new green cards.
Saturday:
  • At 1:33 a.m., police reported a fight on Congress Street.
  • At 7:32 a.m., police reported a theft on Cass Street after the caller said that someone had gone through three of his vehicles and that $700 worth of car parts were taken from his truck.
  • At 9:58 a.m., police reported criminal mischief on Fleet Street after the caller said her vehicle had been keyed.
  • At 11:30 a.m., police arrested a Portsmouth man who was wanted as a fugitive from justice on Lafayette Road. Barry J. Jones, 32, of 600 Lafayette Road was wanted for theft (altering, transferring and moving price markings).
  • At 1:27 p.m., police reported criminal mischief on State Street after some graffiti was found on a building.
  • At 5:35 p.m., police reported that two people were having sex in the Peirce Island boat ramp parking area, but it was later determined by police the couple were just making out.
  • At 6:25 p.m., police reported a traffic hazard on the Spaulding Turnpike northbound and Arthur Brady Drive when a sink was in the roadway.
