Man Flees After Downtown Assault

The following information was provided by the Portsmouth Police log. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

The following is an excerpt from the Portsmouth Police log from Thursday, Dec. 19 and Friday, Dec. 20.

Thursday:

  • At 3:37 p.m., police reported a two-car accident on Lafayette Road and Lang Road without injury.
  • At 6:49 p.m., police reported a theft on Winsor Road after the caller said a package that was delivered to his home was stolen.
  • At 7:17 p.m., police reported a motor vehicle accident on Penhallow and Daniel streets after a tow truck clipped another vehicle.
Friday:
  • At 10:03 a.m., police reported a motor vehicle property damage accident after the caller said her vehicle struck a sign or something else on Lafayette Road and Lang Road.
  • At 2:58 p.m., police reported a hit and run accident in the Deer Street parking lot.
  • At 3:41 p.m., police arrested a 17-year-old juvenile who was wanted as a fugitive from justice after the juvenile turned himself in at the police station. The juvenile was wanted for possession of controlled narcotic drugs.
  • At 4:19 p.m., police arrested a York, Maine man who was wanted as a fugitive from justice after he turned himself in at the police station. Thomas Battye, 75, of Lobster Cove Road was wanted for theft.
  • At 5:37 p.m., police reported a two-car accident without injury on Gosling Road and Woodbury Avenue.
  • At 11:52 p.m., police reported a simple assault on Pleasant Street after one male subjected assaulted another male subject and left the scene.
