Longview School congratulates 2018 graduate Dave Cardin of Epping
Student of the Year Freddy Wells of Derry, NH, also honored at graduation ceremony

Longview School, an alternative high school program focused on adventure and arts-based learning and counseling, is proud to congratulate its 2018 graduating senior, Dave Cardin of Epping, NH. His post-graduate plans include entering the automotive industry.
“We extend a job well done to Dave and to his family, school district, and everyone at Longview School for their support in helping Dave earn his high school diploma,” said Judy Koch, RSEC’s executive director. “Dave has overcome challenges during his time at Longview, and those experiences will serve him well as he pursues future goals with motivation, confidence, and ultimately, success.” added Longview School Executive Director Tom Jennings.


The Longview community also announced its 2018 Student of the Year, Freddy Wells of Derry. The award is given to a student who demonstrates the principles and philosophies of Longview School and RSEC while participating in community service and achieving academically. Wells brings a positive attitude, whether in the classroom or during adventure-based counseling days, and is always willing to help out his peers.

The Longview community celebrated the occasion at its annual graduation ceremony on June 26 in Deerfield, with a keynote speech from Longview teacher Cory Mollomo and a duet of “More than Words,” performed by Mollomo and Cardin.
The Longview School is New Hampshire’s premier, alternative state-approved diploma-granting high school. While following New Hampshire Curriculum Frameworks, basic skills, content, and values are taught through experiential, hands-on opportunities. Longview recognizes the varying achievement levels of students and created a learning environment that addresses individuals’ academic needs based on established goals.

In addition to a range of required academic courses, Longview School programs include exciting options for elective classes including courses taught by visiting artists, woodworking, ornithology, small engine mechanics, bike maintenance, desktop publishing, and others. Small class sizes are comprised of no more than eight students. Unique programs and activities, such as multi-day hiking and camping expeditions, culinary arts, and outdoor classrooms, set Longview apart. Longview School can provide a creative approach to teaching struggling students by helping them understand their behaviors and build relationships in pro-social activities.

Longview School is a program administered by Regional Services Education Center (RSEC), a nonprofit offering unique learning environments to children ages six weeks to 21 years old, professional development to educators, and consulting services to schools and school districts. It provides challenging and supportive environments for students unable to thrive in traditional school settings at each of our five core programs: Sunrise Children’s Center, The RSEC Academy High School; The RSEC Academy Middle School; Longview School; and Vista Learning Center.
