11 Children Hurt In NH School Bus Crash; 1 Critical
New Hampshire State Police said the driver of a Maine school bus with 11 children aboard crashed into a tree on Interstate 95 in Greenland.

GREENLAND, NH — Eleven children and two adults were injured in a school bus crash on Interstate 95 in Greenland Friday morning. One of the children suffered life-threatening injuries, according to New Hampshire State Police. The others were expected to survive.
The driver was identified as John Guy, 21, of Kittery, Maine, and he was driving a GMC Savana transport van from the Kittery Community Center. The crash happened at about 9:20 a.m. on the southbound side of the highway.
"The vehicle veered off the roadway, striking a large tree, head-on," New Hampshire State Police Sergeant Steven Wheeler said in a statement.

Guy was reportedly trapped in the vehicle and pulled free by first responders.
Wheeler said officers are still investigating why Guy veered off the road. Speeding was ruled out, he added.

Governor Chris Sununu released this statement: "We are monitoring the situation and working with involved agencies. The safety of those involved in this accident is our top priority."
Multiple lanes of the highway were closed and traffic was backed up for miles for hours. The scene was cleared by 5 p.m. and traffic was flowing freely as of 6 p.m.
