One Person Injured Trying To Rescue Dog In Milton House Fire
2-alarm fire on Mason Road in Miton heavily damaged a house. A person was injured attempting to rescue a dog that perished in the fire.
MILTON, NH - Milton Fire Rescue responded to Mason Road on Saturday for a reported structure fire. A first-alarm
was requested at 2:45 p.m. when the first officer on scene reported a working fire with the fire extending into the woods. A second alarm was requested with a request for additional tankers and forestry units.
The House was heavily engulfed in fire and firefighters switched to a defensive attack of the fire while forestry crews deployed to the neighboring home to protect it from the fire that was spreading. Crews also continued to try to contain the brush fire which was spreading in the area.

One home was severely damaged, and about 1-acre of woods and brush burned. One bystander was evaluated by EMS and transported to the hospital to be evaluated. The bystander made several attempts to enter the house to save a dog prior to the fire department arriving.
Milton Fire said that one dog was unable to be rescued and perished in the fire.

The fire was brought under control at 3:45 p.m. and units remained on the scene for overhaul and mop-op operations.
All units cleared the scene at 6:43 p.m. The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation.
Milton Fire-Rescue was assisted on scene by Milton Police, Wakefield Fire, Farmington Fire, Rochester Fire, Middelton Fire, New Durham Fire, Strafford Fire, Alton Fire, Wolfeboro Fire, Ossipee Corner Fire, Center Ossipee Fire, Berwick Fire, Acton Fire, Frisbie EMS, Action Ambulance, and an NH Forest Ranger. Tuftonboro fire provided station coverage during the incident.
