Police Commission, Portsmouth PD Seeking to Fill Vacancies

The City of Portsmouth announced the deadline for candidates interested in the current vacancy on the Police Commission is early next week.

The deadline for submission of application is no later than 6 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 17, according to the City of Portsmouth. Interested candidates should fill out an application and return it to the City Clerk’s Office by that date.

Additionally, the Portsmouth Police Department announced it is conducting full-time police officer recruitment. The department is accepting applications to fill vacancies in the patrol division, according to Portsmouth Police.

According to the department, all candidates must pass a physical agility test, including a swim test, oral board, psychological exam, polygraph exam and medical/physical, as well as an extensive background investigation.

Additionally, applicants must be 21 years or older at the time of employment, have a high school diploma or certificate of equivalency and no criminal record.
