Police: Couple Tries to Scale Memorial Bridge Ladder

The following is an excerpt from the Portsmouth Police log from Sunday, Sept. 15 to Monday, Sept. 16.
Sunday:
- At 10:54 a.m., police reported a fireworks complaint on Islington Street.
- At 4:18 p.m., police reported an SUV versus a bicycle accident on Middle and Park streets that sent an 11-year-old boy to Portsmouth Regional Hospital for treatment.
- At 8:09 p.m., police reported criminal mischief on the Route One Bypass southbound where some kids were caught throwing rocks at passing cars.
- At 10:19 p.m., police reported criminal trespass at the Memorial Bridge after a man and a woman were caught trying to climb the ladder to the top of the lift span tower before they were chased away.
- At 10:30 p.m., police arrested a Bradford, Mass., woman who was wanted as a fugitive from justice on Lafayette Road and Wilson Road. Esther I. Maguire, 44, of 77 S. Webster St., Apt. R, was wanted for issuing bad checks, operating with a suspended registration, driving after revocation or suspension and crossing a yellow line.
- At 12:19 p.m., police reported criminal threatening on Greenleaf Avenue after a female caller said she was threatened by some children at a bus stop.
- At 1:07 p.m., police arrested a Portsmouth man on Brewery Lane following a disorderly conduct complaint. Christopher Mcmaster, 29, of 26 Beechstone Apts., Apt. 6, was charged with resisting arrest or detention and driving after revocation or suspension.
- At 7:05 p.m., police reported a car versus a deer accident on Peverly Hill Road.
