Police: DPW Truck Involved in 5-Car Pile Up

The following information comes from the Portsmouth Police log. An arrest doe not indicate a conviction.

The following is an excerpt from the Portsmouth Police log from Sunday, Nov. 17 to Tuesday, Nov. 19.

Sunday:

  • At 6:40 a.m., police reported a theft at a Route One Bypass business where someone charged two purchases that totaled $125 with her credit card.
  • At 9:59 a.m., police charged a Rochester man with motor vehicle offenses on Freedom Circle. George Stanley, 56, of 11 Schley St. was charged with operating with a suspended registration and driving after revocation or suspension.
  • At 3:54 p.m., police responded to a soliciting salesman complaint at a Lafayette Road business where two children were trying to sell candy before the store clerk asked them to leave.
  • At 3:54 p.m., police also received some recovered property from a business on Durgin Lane that belong to a Chelsea M. Glover, 21, a Milton woman who police had arrested earlier this month as part of a major drug sweep.
  • At 5:49 p.m., police reported a theft at a Bow Street business after the caller said someone broke an expensive vase and did not pay for the damage.
  • At 5:50 p.m., police reported a suicide attempt on Middle Road.
  • At 6:32 p.m., police reported a two-car accident on Market Street and the I-95 interchange bridge northbound without injuries.
  • At 9:59 p.m., police reported a fight on Lafayette Road.
Monday:
  • At 8:50 a.m., police reported a theft of a teleserve from a motor vehicle on Sims Avenue.
  • At 9:21 a.m., police reported criminal mischief on Vaughn Street after some graffiti was spotted on a building.
  • At 9:45 a.m., police reported a burglary on Islington Street where the resident said someone broke into his garage and stole some tools and a fender bass guitar.
  • At 10:34 a.m., police reported truancy on Wedgewood Road.
  • At 2:05 p.m., police reported a two-car accident on Broad Street and South Street without injury.
  • At 4:41 p.m., police reported a five-car accident on Peverly Hill Road and Mirona Road that involved a city Department of Public Works vehicle. There were no injuries.
  • At 6:34 p.m., police reported a two-car accident on Peverly Hill Road with injury.
Tuesday:
  • At 12:29 a.m., police reported the theft of some money from the caller's purse on Gosling Road.
