PORTSMOUTH, NH — Before sending your children out trick-or-treating on Halloween, it's always a good thing to know where they are going and who is living in your neighborhood. There are 19 sex offenders listed as either living or working in Portsmouth, according to the New Hampshire Department of Safety, Division of State Police.

Laws require that offenders register both at their primary residence and place of employment. Some, who aren't banned from using the Internet, must also must notify police of any email or social media accounts they are using.

These offenders are not wanted by police, and this information should not be used to harass, discriminate, or harm these individuals.

In New Hampshire, sex offenders are not specifically prohibited from handing out candy on Halloween.
