Portsmouth Officials to Discuss Jones Center Redevelopment

Plans to redevelop the Frank Jones Center property in Portsmouth into 300 residential apartments will be discussed this week.

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. - Plans to redevelop the Frank Jones Center property into 300 residential apartments will be discussed this week. According to Seacoast Online, the planned redevelopment, which is being proposed by Torrington Properties, Inc. and Waterstone Properties Group, Inc., is scheduled to be presented to the city’s Technical Advisory Committee at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Conference Room A in City Hall.

“To create the ‘new Cate Street,’ Waterstone will engage in a land swap with the city of Portsmouth whereby approximately four acres will be conveyed to the city in exchange for approximately one acre from the city of Portsmouth,” attorney John Bosen, who represents the developers, said in a letter to the city. “The project proposal includes 310 residential apartment units with 465 parking spaces, 130 of which are covered parking. In addition, there will be 27,000 square feet of retail space that will provide another 130 parking spaces.”

Developer Josh Levy, of Waterstone Properties Group Inc., told the Portsmouth Herald in March that his company has the Frank Jones Conference Center property off the Route 1 Bypass under agreement to purchase.
