Portsmouth Police Log: Spray Paint, Aggravated Sexual Assault
Spray painting at railroad tracks and an aggravated felonious sexual assault arrest were among items reported in Portsmouth police log June
PORTSMOUTH, NH — The following items were selected from the Portsmouth police log for the time period of June 15 to June 19. Arrests do not indicate guilt. The names of any minors have been omitted.
Saturday, June 15
1:27 a.m. — On Windsor Road, a group of men reportedly look like they're about to fight. Police determine it was a verbal argument.
6:59 a.m. — A wallet is found near the intersection of Fleet and Hanover streets.

8:14 a.m. — A vehicle parked on State Street overnight has apparently been struck in a hit-and-run accident. No suspects at this time.
8:57 a.m. — A bird appears to be injured near the fountain in Market Square, a caller would like police to check on it. The bird is gone by the time police get there.

10:57 a.m. — Drivers exchange information after an accident at the Portsmouth traffic circle.
12:49 p.m. — On Columbia Court, someone cuts down a tree and it falls on a neighbor's house. No property damage, it's a civil issue.
1:17 p.m. — Jonathan M. Roberts, 63, of Portsmouth, turns himself in on two counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault.
1:19 p.m. — Police receive a few phone calls about traffic issues being caused by lights on a bridge that is under construction.
1:57 p.m. — Kittery, Maine, police ask for help from Portsmouth police regarding a vehicle they are following on Route 1 Bypass south. After the vehicle gets onto the Spaulding Turnpike, the State Police is called.
5:51 p.m. — Theft of medication is reported on Middle Street.
6:19 p.m. — Loud music is heard on Ledgewood Drive.
6:42 p.m. — Police check on a woman sleeping on a Congress Street bench. She is all set.
7:52 p.m. — An officer is flagged down about possible illegal dumping on White Cedar Boulevard. Police checked the area dumpsters and find nothing out of the ordinary.
8:31 p.m. — A man wearing sunglasses and bandanna on his face is running on Islington Street clipping roses on each house he runs pas, a caller reports. Police cannot locate him.
9:04 p.m. — A caller reports someone pacing in the Hanover Street garage. It was a just minor taking pictures, police determine.
9:27 p.m. — Someone flags down an officer for a possible fight at the Gas Light. The restaurant is not aware of such incident, no fight is reported.
10:18 p.m. —Amanda E. Olson, 19, of Kittery, Maine, is charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated and unlawful possession of alcohol.
Sunday, June 16
12:15 a.m. — A male is transported to jail for protective custody after a disorderly conduct incident on Bow Street.
12:58 a.m. — On Daniel Street, four men are walking toward with Prescott Park with open containers, and there is a broken bottle in the road, a caller states. Police find the group in the Memorial Bridge lot, they deny being in possession of alcohol and were warned for disorderly conduct.
1:14 a.m. — Some neighborhood kids are loudly playing basketball on Wedgewood Road. Police asked them to stop.
1:15 a.m. — A woman who might have a hand injury appears to be passed out at the railroad tracks near Foundry Place, but later starts to get up and walk toward downtown, a caller reports. She is gone when police arrive.
9:01 a.m. — A man in a Heritage Avenue parking lot is reportedly swinging two hammers and wanted to break a $100 bill to buy drugs, a caller states.
11:22 a.m. — A man reportedly spray paints a building at the corner of Porter and Church streets. He denies doing so when police arrive. An officer cleans the message off the building, which was done in chalk, and counsels the man on proper places to express his art.
12:51 p.m. — A vehicle is parked in a police-only zone. Police issue a verbal warning.
3:46 p.m. — A woman reportedly threatens to key another woman's car for parking in her spot at the Gas Light. Police issue a verbal warning.
5:24 p.m. — A man is trying to get into a concert on Maplewood Avenue, police move him along.
5:54 p.m. — A wallet is reported stolen from a vehicle with a window open parked on Court Street this morning.
7:16 p.m. — Juan Shay Jenkins, 18, of Portsmouth, is charged with criminal trespass and breach of bail conditions, and received a penalty for violating a protective order.
8:10 p.m. — John M. Mills Jr., 44, of Rochester, is charged with a habitual offender offense, driving after revocation or suspension and failure to display plates.
8:30 p.m. — A vehicle parked in a taxi spot is moved along.
8:43 p.m. — A man who is homeless appears to be "setting up for the night" at the maintenance building parking lot near Pease. He gathers up his things when police arrive.
10:06 p.m. — A lot of damage to a vehicle is caused in a hit-and-run on Hanover Street. The back window is smashed out but nothing was taken.
10:09 p.m. — Very loud music is reported near Ladd Street.
10:35 p.m. — A man climbs through a window of a Hanover Street building. He locked himself out.
Monday, June 17
12:44 a.m. — Police take a call from Exxex County regarding a 911 call from a 16-year-old who is being threatened with photos being exposed if certain things are not done.
11:02 a.m. — Extra patrols are requested on State Street after loitering is reported.
11:16 a.m. — On Borthwick Avenue, a man under a tree refuses to leave the property.
2:18 p.m. — A 911 caller says a man is being lewd on one of the trails near Elwyn Road. A no-trespass notice is issued.
3:36 p.m. — A "fender bender" is reported on South Street.
7:15 p.m. — Michael Jeffrey, 28, of Rochester, is charged with willful concealment and stalking after Rochester police notified Portsmouth police of their arrest warrant.
10:32 p.m. — A caller on a boat off Wentworth Road says people with flashlights are walking around the back of the boat garage and through the woods. The flashlights are from kayakers, and efforts to get them to come to shore are not successful.
Tuesday, June 18
1:31 a.m. — A 24-year-old is involuntarily admitted to the emergency room after a psychiatric patient runs out of the hospital.
9:19 a.m. — Police respond to an unattended death. It's a possible cardiac arrest.
10:34 a.m. — Theft of a bicycle is reported on Islington Street.
11:05 a.m. — More than $200,000 is reportedly taken from someone's account via fraud.
12:31 p.m. — A tractor trailer collides with a car on Interstate 95. An ambulance and the Fire Department are called. The vehicles are in the middle of the interstate, both right and left lanes are closed to traffic. State Police is on scene.
1:08 p.m. — A caller states he beeped at a vehicle, and then a male passenger hung out the window and pointed a handgun. Police are unable to find the suspect vehicle.
2:11 p.m.— Two labardoodles are reportedly loose in Islington Street.
3:27 p.m. — On Lafayette Road, a vehicle reportedly strikes a deer that later ran into the woods. Police cannot locate an accident in that area.
5:49 p.m. — A fight between dogs is reported in thea area of Edomd and Woodbury avenues.
11:30 p.m. — Behind a West Road business, police check on an occupied vehicle. A man who is "down on his luck" is permitted to stay there. He is an employee.
