Portsmouth Police logs: Ohio Man Arrested Driving Wrong Way

PORTSMOUTH, NH - The following are excerpts from the Portsmouth Police Department Logs for Wednesday, Apr. 11 and Thursday, Apr. 12.

Wednesday, Apr. 11

  • A caller reported there was a vehicle parked on the sidewalk on Islington Street, making it difficult for kids to walk to school. According to the resource officer the vehicle was parked legally.
  • A caller reported a hit and run on his vehicle parked on Chapel Street. According to a police summary, the offending driver left a note for the man and parties were able to exchange information.
  • Police were called to Borthwick Avenue for a dog bite. According to a police summary, the bite occurred in New Castle and the victim was advised to contact police there.
  • Police and Fire were called to Ocean Road after smoke was spotted inside a building there. According to police, the caller said the home's breaker box was hot and smoking. Eversource was also called to look into the problem.
  • A caller on Martha Terrace called police after spotting a suspicious vehicle and an individual going door to door. He was told to file proper paperwork with the police.
  • A Portsmouth man was arrested for criminal trespassing on Cabot Street. According to police, Daniel Wayne Russell was one of three men setting up a tent across the tracks in the area. Two of the men were sent on their way but police arrested Russell who had a trespass notice already.
  • A Portwalk Place resident reported that two bikes had been stolen from his property sometime between Apr. 2 and 7. The two bikes, a blue and orange Rocky Mountain and Trek Fuel cost over $13,000 combined.
  • Police were called to Middle Road after a caller reported they found marijuana in a resident's room. Police picked up the pot and filed a recovered property report.
  • Police and Fire were called to Congress Street to assist with a suicidal male who wanted to go to the ER. He was transported by EMS.
  • An Ohio man was arrested on near Market Square and Congress Street after driving the wrong way. Police arrested Michael McBride, 41 of Akron, Ohio and charged him with DUI and aggravated driving while intoxicated.
