Portsmouth Woman Charged with Stealing Neighbor's Dog

The following is an excerpt from the Portsmouth Police log from Friday, Aug. 16 through Sunday, Aug. 17.

Friday:

  • At 9:18 a.m., police reported a theft of services on Lafayette Road after a customer left without paying for an exam.
  • At 10:56 a.m., police reported that two dogs were hit by cars on Cornwall and Islington streets near Olde Port Traders. Police said the two dogs were gone on arrival.
  • At 3 p.m., police reported a theft of a cell phone from Portsmouth Regional Hospital on Borthwick Avenue.
  • At 3:24 p.m., police detained a 17-year-old juvenile on Market Street after he allegedly tried to commit shoplifting. The juvenile was taken into protective custody and was not charged.
  • At 10:50 p.m., police reported fraud on Cass Street after the caller said her son was scammed for an undisclosed sum of money by a suspect who posed as a New York City detective on an Internet chat line after the caller’s son had been chatting with a 15-year-old girl.. Police said the caller said that if the caller’s son sent the perpetrator some money, they would not press charges.

  • At 3:14 a.m., police reported the theft of a moped on Congress Street.
  • At 10:40 a.m., police arrested a North Hampton woman who was wanted as a fugitive from justice after she was detained by North Hampton Police. Lisa M. Degan, 38, of 12 Grandview Terrace was wanted for theft (removing merchandise from a building).
  • At 12:31 p.m., police arrested a Portsmouth man following a domestic incident on Kane Street. Daniel A. Jolly, 46, of 47 Kane St. was charged with simple assault and criminal mischief (vandalism).
  • At 1:02 p.m., police reported a theft at hotel on Woodbury Avenue after the caller said someone stole some items from him.
  • At 1:52 p.m., police reported the theft of a handicap placard from a vehicle on Ward Place.
  • At 2:41 p.m., police reported a theft on Congress Street after the caller said someone stole some items from their store.
  • At 7:32 p.m., police arrested a Portsmouth woman on Islington Street after police say she stole another woman’s dog six months ago. Alice Margaret Giordano, 47, of 49 Cass St. was charged with receiving stolen property.
  • At 8:18 p.m., police arrested an Eliot, Maine woman following a domestic incident on Woodbury Avenue. Crystalline Marion Verrill, 26, of 66 Indian Rivers Road was charged with two counts of criminal mischief (vandalism).
  • At 11 p.m., police arrested a Portsmouth woman who was wanted as a fugitive from justice on Market Street. Shalom Lachance, 32, of 258 Leslie Drive was wanted for criminal mischief (vandalism) and default or breach of bail conditions.
  • At 11:06 p.m., police arrested a Weare man for drunken driving on the Portsmouth Rotary Circle. David LeClair, 30, of 98 Chuck St. was charged with driving while intoxicated, second offense.

Sunday:

  • At 1:22 a.m., police reported a fight on Daniel Street involving a few people that attracted 25 people.
  • At 1:54 a.m., police reported a road rage incident on Islington Street after the driver said another driver pulled up beside his vehicle, rolled down his window and smacked a wrench in his hands.
