PORTSMOUTH, NH — July 4th is quickly approaching, which means it's time to fire up that barbecue and find out what Fourth of July fireworks and festivities are going on near you this Independence Day. We gathered up all the fireworks shows, parades and festivals happening in and around Portsmouth so you can start planning now.

The city of Portsmouth and Wilcox Industries are sponsoring the annual fireworks display on July 3 at the South Mill Pond across from the Portsmouth City Hall. Portsmouth has a long-standing tradition of hosting one of the seacoast area's finest displays of fireworks!

Celebrate America by welcoming new citizens at the U.S. Naturalization Ceremony. Come feel reinvigorated by the joy and patriotism shared by those who make their own special day on their new nation's birthday. The ceremony will take place during the museum's Old Fashioned Field Day, in which participants can learn games played throughout the centuries. A parade around the museum grounds will take place at 2 p.m. Veterans, active military members and their families get free admission.

The Rye July 4th Celebration will feature a performance by Jumbo Circus Peanuts starting at 7 p.m. Fireworks by Jack Tobey & Crew are scheduled to take place at dusk, weather permitting. There will be no rain date.
