Portsmouth's DeStefano Architects Merge With Massachusetts Firm

A Massachusetts architectural firm has acquired Portsmouth's DeStefano Architects.

PORTSMOUTH, NH — DeStefano Architects of Portsmouth has recently merged with Maugel Architects of Harvard, Massachusetts. Together, the two firms will combine forces to expand their abilities to shape spaces throughout New England, Maugel Architects have announced. The newly merged firm provides architectural design services for commercial, residential, corporate mixed-use industrial, and other type of development.

Maugel Architects' acquisition of DeStefano Architects was announced last week. Both office locations will remain open despite the merger. According to Maugel Architects, the acquisition accelerates growth trajectories for both firms, by immediately expanding the firms' capacity and geography. Maugel Architects' founder Brent Maugel and DeStefano Architects' founder Lisa DeStefano will spearhead the growth and expansion strategies going forward.

"I always envisioned that our firm would find the right partner with whom to join and to grow," said DeStefano. "This perfect cultural alliance will allow us to rapidly diversify and expand our services to larger projects for existing and new clients alike. This is such a great opportunity to share a strategic vision with a successful architectural firm that complements our services and whose culture and history are very much like ours. We look forward to traveling together on this exciting new journey."

Last year, Maugel Architects celebrated their 25th anniversary and relaunched their brand, naming Daniel Barton, Jonathan Cocker, Mike Kunz and Mark Pelletier principals to the firm. These moves set the course for sustained longterm growth, the company said. The newly announced merger is expected to accelerate this growth.

"This collaboration brings a strong design resource to the New England Commercial Real Estate landscape; one that features depth of design talent, service-oriented business philosophies and a culture of employee well-being and social purpose," said Brent Maugel, president and founder of Maugel Architects. "Lisa and I are extremely excited about the opportunities this expanded capability brings to our employees, our clients and our communities."
