PSO's Artist-in-Residence Program Open for Admissions

The Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra (PSO) is again looking for students for the 2018-2019 Artist-in-residence program.

PORTSMOUTH, NH - The Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra (PSO) is again looking for students for the 2018-2019 Artist-in-residence program. The program is open to any creative professionals established in their field who would like to explore the intersection of their craft with an orchestra.

The Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra's Artist-in-residence program is an opportunity to invite performers, artists, educators, composers and all manner of creative people for a time and space away from their usual environment. It is meant to provide a time of reflection, research, presentation and/or production. It allows the individual to explore his/her practice within the community of a local symphony orchestra; meeting new people, using new materials, experiencing and growing through the classical music genre. A small stipend is provided. Individuals interested in a residency should submit their resume and a paragraph stating their interest to info@portsmouthsymphony.org by May 11.

“Over the past two years, the collaboration with our Artists-in-residence has produced several original works and has brought new sounds and interpretations to our symphony audience,” notes John Page, Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra’s Music Director. “This coming season, we hope to identify another talented individual who will be inspired by the intersection of and relationship between different creative expressions in order to create something that wouldn’t be possible without the partnership."
