The NHLC ,celebrates its 85th anniversary and carries many of the the states craft spirit brands like Smoky Quartz Distillery

Seabrook, NH— This month Smoky Quartz Distillery has been selected as the NH Spirit/Distillery of the Year by the New Hampshire Liquor Commision. The New Hampshire Liquor Commision ,celebrating its 85th anniversary this year with theme “85 years of cheers”, carries many of the the states local craft spirit brands.

Smoky Quartz distillery officially opened it's doors in May 2014 with its first mash made with 100% locally grown corn. Head Distiller of Smoky Quartz Distillery, Kevin Kurland first got the idea to open a distillery in the summer of 2008 while serving as an airman for the US military in Iraq. One day while he was passing time taking cover from frequent periods of indirect fire from the enemy, Kevin stumbled upon a Wall Street Journal article about the explosive business of craft distilling in the U.S.. Today the distillery has won multiple spirit awards for its V5 Bourbon,Granite Coast Rum and Granite Coast Anejo Rum. The distillery also produces gluten free spirits such as Solids Granite Vodka, Granite Lighting Moonshine with locally grown cornmash.

Head Distiller, Kevin Kurland was presented the NH Spirit/Distillery of the Year award on Tuesday April 9th at the Puritan Backroom in Manchester at NHLC managers meeting.
