Smuttynose Expands Distribution into Eastern Tennessee

Smuttynose Brewing Co.'s new facility at Towle Farm in Hampton helped make the new distribution possible.

Smuttynose Brewing Company, thanks to its new brewery in Hampton, has expanded its distribution into Eastern Tennessee with Carter Distributing.

The first shipments of Smuttynose beer will hit taps July 1 at Chattanooga's Heaven and Ale.

Peter Egelston, Smuttynose Founder and president, said in the announcement that Carter was appealing.

"Carter has some strong craft brands but their roster isn’t too big," Egelston said. "We understood early on that they’ve got a deep understanding of the growing craft beer market in East Tennessee and enough energy to represent us well.
We’ll make sure we have enough beer to meet their needs."

Tony Giannasi, Carter’s Craft Brands Manager, was similarly impressed.

"Smuttynose has an all-star lineup of beers that reads like a greatest hits album," Giannasi said in a press release. "From beer geek prize Baltic Porter and best-selling Finestkind IPA to new releases Vunderbar Pilsner and Bouncy House IPA, these guys offer something for everyone at a high level of quality."

Smuttynose beers are now sold in 24 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and four international markets.
