Splaine: 'I Would Not Want to be Mayor'

City Council candidate Jim Splaine says he doesn't want to be the next mayor of Portsmouth.

His main goal is to capture one of the nine council seats so he can work on making the City Hall a more open and welcoming place for different opinions and to strike a balance when it comes to the city's development.

"The city has become too much of a cheerleader for all of these corporations over the last five years," said Splaine, who is one of the council candidates being supported by Portsmouth Now.

When asked if he would like to be the top vote getter and become the city's next mayor, Splaine replied, "I would never want to be mayor. If that happened I think I would run away from the city."
