Unattended Death Of Teen Reported In Portsmouth
Investigators are looking into why a woman died inside an apartment on Greenleaf Avenue. The 19-year-old was found on Monday morning.
PORTSMOUTH, NH — Police are investigating the death of a woman in the city whose body was found on Tuesday.
Around 8:15 a.m., police and fire and rescue teams were sent to the Ridgewood Apartments, a public housing project on Greenleaf Avenue, after 911 dispatch received a call about a 19-year-old woman being found dead inside of an apartment. Police arrived and fire staged for them. Later, the apartment was cleared and firefighters were allowed to go in, according to scanner chatter.
"On scene," according to Capt. John Peracchi of the Portsmouth Police Department, "it was determined the female was deceased. An investigation is being conducted by the Portsmouth Police Department's Investigative Division and the office of the chief medical examiner. There was no sign of foul play and nearby residences are not in danger."
