WEATHER UPDATE: Showers, Thunderstorms Possible in Portsmouth

Residents can expect a lot of rain throughout the day Tuesday and into Wednesday.

Don’t forget to pack an umbrella if you plan on venturing outside today. Weather forecasters are expecting showers and thunderstorms throughout most of the day.

Showers are likely, then possibly a thunderstorm after 2 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. Weather forecasters are calling for an 80 percent chance of rain. The high temperature will be near 69 degrees.

The chance of showers and thunderstorms will continue into Tuesday night, with both possible before 11 p.m., followed by a chance of showers. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. There is an 80 percent chance of precipitation, according to the NWS.

Tuesday’s low temperature will be around 66 degrees.

Additionally, a hazardous weather outlook has been issued for Portsmouth for Tuesday. There is a moderate risk of rip currents along the coast today due to high surf.
