Work Opportunities Unlimited Announces Seacoast Director

The community-based employment service provider's coverage area includes Portsmouth and Hampton.

Dover, NH - Julie Oakley has recently joined Work Opportunities Unlimited, a community-based employment service provider, as Seacoast Director. In this role, Oakley ensures that Work Opportunities Unlimited's clients receive high quality services in their Vocational Rehabilitation, Supported Employment, and school programs.

Oakley oversees Work Opportunities Unlimited's efforts across the Seacoast and beyond, covering the Portsmouth, Newington, Hampton, Dover, Somersworth, Rochester, Northwood, Epping, Deerfield, and Raymond territories. She works out of the organization's Dover office.

Previously, Oakley worked for Walgreens as an Operations Trainer, where she oversaw training and development programs in Maine and Eastern New Hampshire. She was highly involved in Walgreen’s REDI (Retail Employees with Disabilities) program, and worked closely with New Hampshire and Maine Vocational Rehabilitation to roll out the program in those two states. This initiative created partnerships between stores and local disability resources, allowing participants to receive job skills training in the retail industry.

"My favorite part of my job at Work Opportunities Unlimited is knowing that everyone on the team impacts people’s lives every day," Oakley said. "We truly do change the world of work."

She belongs to several professional associations: the Society for Human Resource Management and the US Business Leadership Network.

Oakley volunteers with the State of New Hampshire Department of Education as an Educational Surrogate Parent, supporting families in creating IEPs for their children with special needs. She has also volunteered at Camp Allen in Bedford, NH, working with campers who have developmental and physical challenges, and was a Girl Scout leader for many years. She grew up in Dover, NH, and currently lives in Barrington.
