Black Friday: NH Malls, Box Stores Open Early

Most Southern New Hampshire malls and box stores open at 6 a.m. for Black Friday.

SALEM, NH -- Malls and major retailers across New Hampshire took advantage of Black Friday fever early by opening on Thanksgiving night, staying open past midnight then reopening as early as 6 a.m. The Mall of New Hampshire in Manchester, the Pheasant Lane Mall in Nashua, The Mall at Rockingham Park in Salem and the Merrimack Premium Outlets opened Thanksgiving night at 5 p.m. Best Buy and Target also opened at 5 p.m., while Walmart opened at 6 p.m.

American retailers hauled in a record $7.9 billion on Black Friday last year, according to Adobe Analytics. That was nearly an 18 percent jump over 2016.

And while online shopping and Cyber Monday promotions have surged in popularity in recent years, many folks still choose to jockey for position and box out fellow shoppers at brick-and-mortar stores in hopes of saving a couple hundred bucks. In fact, in-store Black Friday traffic has barely slowed, falling less than 1 percent in 2017.
