SALEM, NH - A Boston woman pleaded guilty this week to two counts of second degree assault after throwing hot coffee in a store clerk's face during an attempted robbery. According to the Eagle Tribune, Melody Williams, 32, of Boston will serve up to two years in state prison on the first count. Williams was issued a suspended sentence of up to three years on the second count.
Police encountered Williams on Feb. 15, 2017 — along with Boston resident Lance Holloman, 31 — at Lord and Taylor in the Mall at Rockingham Park. Investigators said the duo tried to steal five pairs of sweatpants and two hooded sweatshirts, totaling $686.
In an attempt to get away from loss prevention guards, who became suspicious of the two, Holloman threw a cup of hot coffee in one of their faces, police said.
