Federally Protected Falcon Shot Dead in Salem
A federally protected falcon was shot and killed in Salem today and police are looking for clues after the bird was found on Twinbrook Ave.

SALEM, N.H. - A federally protected falcon was shot and killed in Salem today and police are looking for clues after the bird was found on Twinbrook Avenue on Saturday afternoon.
According to Salem Police, an officer responded to a home on Twinbrook Avenue Saturday afternoon for a report of a dead peregrine falcon after the homeowner found it on his property.
Conservation Officer Chris McKee of the New Hampshire Fish and Game said the the falcon had been shot, likely by a .22 caliber round while perched in a tree.

The bullet was not found.
Authorities say peregrine falcons are a federally protected species under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. The shooting of the falcon is considered a crime.
