Gas Leak Reported On Route 28 In Salem
Police: Unitil has repaired the leak but gas could be shut down for up to 12-hours.

SALEM, NH — Police and utility officials are reporting a gas leak in Salem and are asking drivers to avoid the area of Route 28 and Drive Fitness. Gas has been shut down in the area but traffic is moving on both northbound and southbound lanes. According to Unitil, the leak was caused by a third-party.
The leak has been stopped, according to the Salem Fire Department.
Affected areas include Dyer Avenue, Geremonty Drive, Main Street, North Broadway, Sally Sweet Way, Sally Sweets Way, South Broadway, Travelers Drive, and Willow Street, according to the company.

"Approximately 335 customers will be affected as we work closely with first responders and municipal officials to make the area safe," Unitil officials.
Salem police said gas will be shut off for an "undetermined amount of time." Firefighters said it could be as long as 12-hours.
