Margaritas Mexican Restaurant Celebrates Taco Gigante with Charitable Donations, Chance to Win Free Tacos for a Year
Local Police and Firefighters to Hold Taco Eating Competition on National Taco Day Oct. 4

Margaritas Mexican Restaurant, known for its fresh Mexican cuisine, vibrant decor and sense of humor, is turning National Taco Day into a month long celebration starting Sept. 29, highlighted by the return of the legendary Taco Gigante.
The two-pound goliath is hand-crafted, made-to-order and presented in the distinctive tongue-and-cheek Margaritas style. The Taco Gigante is made with a crispy 12-inch tortilla shell and comes stuffed with lettuce, refried beans, Mexican rice, seasoned chicken, taco beef, pork carnitas, bacon, salsa fresca, cheese and queso sauce. It’s then topped with crema, pickled jalapenos, picante and hacienda sauce.
Margaritas will celebrate National Taco Day Gigante-style with a special bash at Margaritas Salem located at 1 Keewaydin on Sunday, Oct. 4 at 3:00 p.m. featuring a Gigante “Battle of the Badges” eating contest between local police and fire departments. The first to finish the Taco Gigante will earn a $250 donation to a charity of their team’s choice and a free Margaritas catered taco party at the department, while the losing team will receive a $100 donation to a charity of their choice.

The party doesn’t stop there. Anyone who dares to finish an entire Taco Gigante will win Free Tacos for a Year*. Plus, all month long from Sept. 29 – Oct. 27, Margaritas will donate $1 from every $11.99 Taco Gigante purchased to End 68 Hours of Hunger. The party will culminate on Oct. 27 with a Full Moon Margarita Madness Party where five percent of the night’s lounge sale will benefit the charities that were benefitted all month long.
“Every year our guests look forward to the return of Taco Gigante and our National Taco Day party, but we think this year will be the most talked-about event yet,” said Margaritas president, Hugo Marin. “The Battle of the Badges Gigante eating contest is a great opportunity for us to give back to the community and will only add to the grandeur of our National Taco Day celebration.”
