Merrimack Valley Philharmonic to Feature the New England Gospel Ensemble for its December 6th Holiday Concert

The Merrimack Valley Philharmonic will feature the New England Gospel Ensemble and cellist Matthew Gagnon for its Family Holiday Concert.

The Merrimack Valley Philharmonic Orchestra is very pleased to welcome back The New England Gospel Ensemble, under the direction of Renese King, for its upcoming holiday performance. Ms. King has been featured as a guest soloist for national television broadcasts, a national tour, a CD release (Sleigh Ride) with the Boston Pops Orchestra and Tanglewood Festival Chorus. Renese often sings her own written arrangements for orchestra, and chorus. She is Music Director at the Waymark Seventh Day Adventist Church, Dorchester, MA, Director of the Re-Union Choir and Associate Director of Union United Methodist Church in Boston.

Cellist Matthew Gagnon will also be featured, performing the Saint-Saëns Cello Concerto No. 1 in A Minor. Gagnon, a high school senior, began playing the cello in the 3rd grade. He studies cello privately with Cynthia Forbes at Indian Hill Music School, and performs with various orchestras, including: Westford Academy, Nashoba Youth Orchestra and the New England Conservatory’s Youth Repertory and String Chamber Orchestras. Also an accomplished vocalist and pianist, Matthew plans to study music performance in the near future.

The orchestra, under the direction of George Monseur, will round out this concert by also performing many family holiday favorites, as well as a festive sing-along. Be sure to attend this special performance in the orchestra’s new Andover location!
