Neighbor Spots Derry House Fire, Assists Occupants In Evacuating
Derry firefighters arrived to heavy fire on Doris Street on Saturday. The fire was knocked down in 10 minutes but the home is uninhabitable.
DERRY, NH — The Derry Fire Department responded to a building fire at 7 Doris St. on Saturday.
Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire at the rear and attic of the single-family home at about 4:25 p..m. Two Residents that were inside the home were alerted by a neighbor and self-evacuated.
The bulk of the fire was knocked down within 10 minutes of arrival. The home sustained significant heat and smoke damage throughout and the home was deemed uninhabitable, according to Battalion Chief William Gillis Jr.

The cause of the fire is not considered suspicious and is under investigation by the Derry Fire Department Fire Prevention Bureau.
The American Red Cross is assisting those displaced. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters.
