New Hampshire Is Most Financially Literate State In U.S.: Study
WalletHub.com says the Granite State ranks tops in "WalletLiteracy," receiving high marks in both financial planning and knowledge.

A new study by a credit score firm identifies New Hampshire has the most literate state in the United States, according to a report online. The survey by WalletHub.com analyzed data from D.C. and 50 states and focused on 15 key metrics including education programs, consumer habits, and rainy day funds. New Hampshire ranked first in “WalletLiteracy” – the collective average of all of the sectors studied – and also placed fourth in both financial planning & habits and financial knowledge & education.

The company noted that citizens in the United States ended 2017 with more than $92 billion in new credit card debt, the highest in a decade, even though 40 percent of Americans say they have a budget. Total credit card debt passed $1 trillion for the first time in U.S. history, the report noted.
