NH Driver Used Cigarette Carton As Inspection Sticker: Police
"Although it is creative, it is definitely not legal," police in Plaistow said.

PLAISTOW, NH — A New Hampshire driver's ploy to pass off a cigarette carton as an inspection sticker failed to fool police this week. Plaistow police said Officer Edward Barrasso stopped the driver on Plaistow Road Thursday afternoon after noticing the "suspicious"-looking sticker. The driver, who was not identified, was promptly cited.
"Although it is creative, it is definitely not legal," Plaistow police said in a statement. "The driver had an actual box of Camel cigarettes in the window trying to imitate an official state inspection sticker ... Please do not attempt this."
Per state law, producing fake vehicle stickers is punishable by a fine of up to $1,200.

The driver seemed to take a page out of the book of another New Hampshire driver who was cited in 2017 for using a cheese wrapper and parts of a Hannaford circular in place of inspection and registration stickers:
