Parkinson's Disease Foundation Sheds Light on Underrecognized Symptom of Anxiety with Online Seminar on January 5

Online Seminar Available to People living with Parkinson's and Health Professionals

WHAT: Did you know that anxiety is a common symptom of Parkinson’s disease? Find ways to manage it by joining “Anxiety in Parkinson’s Disease,” an online PD ExpertBriefing hosted by the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation (PDF). Qualifying health professionals may apply for free continuing education credits.

WHO: The Parkinson’s Disease Foundation® (PDF®) supports the scientific research and ideas that will improve the lives and futures of people who are touched by Parkinson’s disease. Since its founding in 1957, PDF has invested more than $157 million in research, education and advocacy programs. This PDF PD ExpertBriefing will be presented by Joseph H. Friedman, M.D., Director of the Movement Disorders Program of Butler Hospital and Professor and Division of Movement Disorders, Warren Alpert Medical School, Brown University in Providence, RI. Dr Friedman is a movement disorder specialist and PDF-funded researcher who cares for people living with Parkinson’s and conducts research into the nonmotor symptoms of the disease.

WHY: Anxiety is a common, but often under recognized symptom of Parkinson’s disease that involves feelings of constant worry or nervousness. Estimates show between 25 and 45 percent of people with Parkinson’s experience an anxiety disorder at some point in their disease. The good news is there are treatment options and strategies available. This seminar will review practical tips for easing anxiety in Parkinson’s.

WHEN: Tuesday, January 5, 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM ET.
