Salem Man Indicted On 12 Sexual Assault Counts Against 3 Children

BRENTWOOD, NH — A Salem man has been indicted on 12 felony counts stating he sexually assaulted three children between March 1991 and March 1994. Timothy Binette, 41, of Salem, is charged with nine counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault and three counts of felonious sexual assault, according to indictments issued at Rockingham County Superior Court this month. The indictments state he sexually assaulted children who were between the ages 6 and 12 years old.

The sexual assaults occurred in Salem, according to the grand jury indictments. Each aggravated felonious sexual assault count is a special felony, each carrying a maximum possible sentence of 7 1/2 to 15 years in prison if Binette is convicted. Each felonious sexual assault count is a Class B felony, carrying a maximum possible sentence of 3 1/2 to 7 years in prison if he is convicted.

An indictment is not an indication of guilt; rather, it means a jury has found sufficient evidence to warrant a trial.
