Salem Police Cancel National Night Out 2020 Amid Pandemic
"It seems everything we love to do has gotten cancelled," police said. Among them: National Night Out 2020.

SALEM, NH — National Night Out, the annual gathering of community members and police, will not be held this year amid the coronavirus pandemic, police said Wednesday.
The event, usually held in August, strives to create a sense of community between police and their communities. Last year's event featured displays of police vehicles, police dogs, fire safety education and games.
"It seems everything we love to do has gotten cancelled and unfortunately, here at SPD we are not immune to this either," police said in a social media post. "We are sorry to inform everyone that National Night Out 2020 is cancelled and will not be happening. We were looking forward to providing a safe, fun environment where everyone could enjoy themselves but due to health risks and safety reasons we have decided it is best to forgo this year's National Night Out."

"We are available 24/7, 365 for any issues that may arise in your daily lives. We look forward to the day we can host you all and have some fun but until then, please stay safe, stay healthy, and be kind!" the post said.
