Salem Police Seek Witnesses After Elderly Man Struck And Killed

SALEM, NH — Salem police are asking for the public's help after a fatal pedestrian accident Nov. 19.

Around 7 p.m., officers were sent to Main Street near Martin Avenue after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle. The man, James Mikilitus, 68, was treated and medflighted to Boston Hospital where he died later, according to Salem Police Chief Joel Dolan.

"The driver of the 2016 Dodge Charger that struck the victim remained at the scene and has cooperated with investigators," Dolan added.

The crash is still an active investigation by the department's Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Team. Neither speed nor alcohol are believed to have been factors in the crash, Dolan said.
